What is going on with the BBC? Not only do we have Daniel Corbett gracing our screens, prognosticating on our need for parkas and umbrellas, BBC North-West has the ultimate newsreader. Tina Bangs reads the news on BBC Look North-West in the mornings (at least, she used to, but as I haven’t lived in the North-West for over two years, she may have moved on to greater things).
Tina arrives in the morning, looking for all the world as if she’s just stepped out of a nightclub. Her hair is so often arranged in a complex style that I wonder what sorts of exciting clubs she visits. I know where she drinks in Chester, as I’ve seen her in the Custom House on Watergate Street. Stupidly, I was too shy to approach her for an autograph…
Why Tina hasn’t been promoted to national news (preferably BBC NEWS 24), where she could interact with Daniel Corbett, I don’t know. Her trademarks are theatrical winks at the camera and her opinions on the weather (“vile” was a common expression, which is hardly surprising, given that she was discussing the weather for North-West England). BBC management, if you’re reading: make her a national celebrity!!!
